Freedom Day the D-Day, April 25 or Carnation Revolution, its a Bank Holiday

The military take over of April 25 in1974 knocked in one day, the political system that existed in Portugal since 1926, without much resistance from the loyal forces of the government, that gave in towards the rebellion of the armed forces

This day is known as D-Day, April 25 or the Carnation Revolution. The survey was conducted by officers of the military hierarchy intermediate (MFA), mostly captains who had participated in the Colonial War. It is, in general terms, that this revolution brought freedom to the Portuguese people (calling themselves the "Freedom Day" holiday in Portugal established to commemorate the revolution).
